Dear Friend,

During this season of giving, please consider supporting the work of the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center by becoming a BMAC member or making a donation to our annual fund. We’re wrapping up one of our most productive years ever, and with your support we will do even more in the days ahead.

  • During the past year, BMAC served more than 19,000 people—a 53% increase over the year before. Children and seniors, neighbors and tourists, seasoned museumgoers and curious newcomers came to BMAC to see Keith Haring’s subway drawings, Daniel Callahan’s MassQs. Aurora Robson’s reclaimed-plastic sculptures, the glorious creatures of Glasstastic, and much more.

  • Forty-three school groups visited BMAC in the past year—a total of 951 kids, many of whom had never been to a museum before.

  • Our dedicated education staff made 152 visits to local public schools, Head Start classrooms, and senior centers—bringing art and companionship to those who couldn’t easily get to the museum.

  • We presented 53 evening and weekend events—artist talks, book launches, lectures, concerts, and workshops—contributing mightily to the cultural and economic vitality of downtown Brattleboro and the surrounding region.

  • Committed to supporting our community’s increasingly diverse population, we hosted Nowruz and Lunar New Year celebrations, showcased the vital work of Pride Without Borders, and launched an art therapy program for local refugees.

  • And we continued to share art outside the museum’s walls, with programs like Artful Ice Shanties, which drew over 2,000 visitors to Retreat Farm, and an eye-popping installation of Tape Art across the front of our building, which lit up the Internet with expressions of delight and horror that we had painted the museum blue. (We hadn’t.)

BMAC can’t fix our broken political system or solve the devastating conflicts taking place around the world. What we can do is keep bringing people together and providing inspiring and joyful reminders of the beauty and creativity that continue to exist all around us. And as NPR’s Michel Martin has said, “Joy is the most powerful weapon anyone can wield in the fight against despair.”

Please give as generously as you possibly can to help BMAC stay strong and vibrant—to continue spreading joy—in 2024 and beyond.

On behalf of all of us here at BMAC, I thank you for your kind consideration.

With gratitude and warm wishes,

Danny Lichtenfeld
Director
